Small Groups:
This year we are in the process of developing our small group ministry. We are taking the next "evolutionary" step in our commitment as a church to discipleship. From our earliest days, we have not been satisfied to merely lead people to Christ, or to provide a “social club” for believers to gather in, but we have set as our goal to assist all who belong to our faith community to truly grow deep with God and one another. Our purpose statement, “BCC exists to help people begin and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,” declares this commitment.
Through the development of a small group ministry, anyone who comes to our church will have the opportunity to “do life together,” with a small group of people from our larger faith community. So everyone who desires will be able to intentionally spend time getting to know our Great God by meeting regularly with a group of folks. In doing this each person will be like those believers described in Acts,
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Acts 2:42
On October 22, 2006, we met together as a church to discuss how we would develop this small group ministry. We outlined three key components: The Development team, formation of exploratory groups, and The Gathering. These three areas are providing us the opportunity to continue to wait upon God and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance in the development of the small group ministry. As we pray together, work together, and play together this year, we will discern the strategy and plan that God has for our faith community.
