Welcome to Bethany Community Church! If you are a first time guest looking for a church home, let me give you a quick preview of what you will find at Bethany.

We are a church that is best known for three distinctives:

1. People who are beginning to explore matters of faith are welcome and comfortable here. We have a conviction that Jesus died to take away your sin, not your mind. We also believe that the Bible is more relevant and more accurate than the Washington Post!



2. People who want to grow to be more like Jesus can learn "how to" here. From our earliest days as a church, we have focused on the "how to" and not just the "ought to." So, don't expect a lot of religious rule keeping at Bethany. Instead, expect to meet other imperfect people who are seeking to live for God in the midst of the practical realities of our busy, challenging lives.



3. Community - it's our middle name! At Bethany, we seek to be a community for one another. Those who know us well also know that we are deeply involved in the life of the greater community in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor. Our church is usually at the forefront of finding solutions to community issues: To give just a few examples, we have taken the lead in addressing homelessness among women, volunteering in our public schools, helping men overcome addiction to pornography, and helping couples prevent the tragedy of marital break-up.
